1. Snap or upload your card
Open the scanner on any device and either take a fresh photo or upload an existing image. We accept JPG, PNG and HEIC and resize on-device to keep uploads small and fast. Your image is sent securely over HTTPS to our AI recognition service; if you save the card to your vault, a copy of the image may be stored privately with your collection so you can view it later. You can delete any saved card and its image at any time.
2. Gemini Vision reads the card
Google's Gemini Vision model extracts every printed detail it can see: the Pokémon's name, HP, set symbol, card number, rarity, illustrator and any holo or reverse-holo cues. That structured metadata is what makes the next step accurate, even when lighting is awkward or the card sits inside a sleeve.
3. Matched against the official Pokémon TCG database
We send those extracted details to the public Pokémon TCG API (pokemontcg.io), which mirrors the official card data published by The Pokémon Company. We return the top three candidate matches — usually the first is exact — so you stay in control if a reprint or promo variant is in play.
4. Estimated GBP pricing from real marketplaces
Once you confirm the match, we surface the marketplace estimates included with the Pokémon TCG API — Cardmarket (EU) and TCGPlayer (US) where available — and convert them to GBP at indicative rates. Figures are labelled as estimated market values, not guaranteed sale prices. Upstream marketplaces refresh at their own cadence; you can refresh a card's price from its page.
5. Saved to your private vault
Add the card to your Vault to keep it in one organised collection, or drop it into your Wishlist with a personal note. Vaults are private by default and secured with row-level access control. You can delete any card, photo, wishlist entry or note at any time; self-serve account deletion and CSV export are on the roadmap — email us in the meantime.
What it costs
Card Vaulty is free to use with no card limit on personal vaults. We may add optional premium features in the future, but the core scan, identify, price and store workflow stays free.
